Polyurea Is Used To Bolster The New SPF Roof Of A Commercial Bakery's Ingredient Plant

Creative Food Ingredients (CFI) bakery has become a reference for folks searching for the perfect cookie in the state of New York. To uphold its reputation of client satisfaction, CFI focuses on ensuring that the production process of their cookies is always of the highest quality. In order to keep their famously delicious cookies nice and fresh, CFI’s owners took an extra step to ensure their baking ingredients were kept in a safe environment. CFI ingredients are kept in a facility known as the Flatbread Plant, where the ingredients are stored and baked goods are produced before they are transported to CFI’s main facility for distribution. For years, operations in the Flatbread Plant carried on without complications. However, with time, wear and tear took its toll on CFI’s Flatbread Plant, which gave way to penetrations and leaks. Instead of patching up the damage, the owners decided to augment the roof ’s structural integrity, and render the roof with a permanent fix. Moreover, they opted to give the Flatbread Plant insulation for the first time, so that workers and ingredients all thrived under a safeguarded roof. To attain this protection, polyurea was installed over spray polyurethane foam on the bakery’s roof.

WeatherTight Installations (WTI) was the contracting company put in charge to maintain CFI’s cookie reputation intact. The project entailed applying a reflective and rigid polyurea coating over an SPF system to the existing system of the 32,000 sq. ft. roof, which consisted of a smooth built-up roof over wooden decking.
