System Overview
A Four-Phase Floor System That Lasts
A properly installed polyurea floor system is a layered system — each phase serves a purpose. Skipping steps is the leading cause of premature delamination and coating failure.
Diamond grinding or shot blasting opens the concrete profile. Cracks, spalls, and joints are repaired with Concrete Mender or appropriate patching compound. Profile and repair quality directly determine topcoat adhesion.
A penetrating epoxy primer seals and fills the concrete surface, providing a uniform bond layer for the polyurea basecoat. Critical for moisture-vapor mitigation and adhesion to dense or polished slabs.
A fast-cure polyurea basecoat builds the primary film thickness and chemical resistance. Decorative flake can be broadcast into the wet basecoat at this stage for texture and slip resistance.
An aliphatic polyurea or acrylic topcoat provides UV stability, chemical resistance, and the final surface texture. OR-75DCL deck coating or OR-ACR-42 acrylic are specified based on environment and traffic requirements.
Not every job needs all four phases. A light-traffic commercial floor may only require primer and topcoat. A food-service or heavy-industrial floor may need all four phases plus an anti-slip broadcast.
