Floor Systems for Every Demanding Environment

Oak Ridge floor coating systems are specified in facilities where floor failure means shutdowns, contamination risk, or safety hazards — not just cosmetic problems.

Warehouses & Distribution

Heavy forklift traffic, pallet jacks, and chemical spills demand a floor system that resists impact and abrasion. Polyurea topcoats cure fast so you're not shutting down a bay for days.

Food & Beverage

Breweries, food processing, and commercial kitchens need seamless, NSF-compliant surfaces that resist caustic sanitizers, organic acids, and daily thermal shock from washdown.

Auto Dealerships & Garages

Showroom floors and service bays need chemical resistance to oil, brake fluid, and fuel plus a professional appearance. Decorative flake systems available for showrooms.

Healthcare & Labs

Seamless, easy-to-clean surfaces with chemical resistance to disinfectants, solvents, and reagents. Low-VOC formulations available for occupied-building installations.

Commercial Kitchens

Restaurants, hotel kitchens, and institutional food service demand slip-resistant, NSF-compliant surfaces that stand up to grease, heat, and constant wet conditions.

Aircraft Hangars

Aviation-grade floor coatings resist hydraulic fluid, aviation fuel, and de-icing chemicals while providing ESD-safe or conductive options where required by facility standards.

A Four-Phase Floor System That Lasts

A properly installed polyurea floor system is a layered system — each phase serves a purpose. Skipping steps is the leading cause of premature delamination and coating failure.

1
Concrete Prep & Mender

Diamond grinding or shot blasting opens the concrete profile. Cracks, spalls, and joints are repaired with Concrete Mender or appropriate patching compound. Profile and repair quality directly determine topcoat adhesion.

Concrete Mender
2
Epoxy Primer

A penetrating epoxy primer seals and fills the concrete surface, providing a uniform bond layer for the polyurea basecoat. Critical for moisture-vapor mitigation and adhesion to dense or polished slabs.

OR-E41 Epoxy Primer
3
Polyurea Basecoat

A fast-cure polyurea basecoat builds the primary film thickness and chemical resistance. Decorative flake can be broadcast into the wet basecoat at this stage for texture and slip resistance.

4
Topcoat / Sealer

An aliphatic polyurea or acrylic topcoat provides UV stability, chemical resistance, and the final surface texture. OR-75DCL deck coating or OR-ACR-42 acrylic are specified based on environment and traffic requirements.

OR-75DCL / OR-ACR-42

Not every job needs all four phases. A light-traffic commercial floor may only require primer and topcoat. A food-service or heavy-industrial floor may need all four phases plus an anti-slip broadcast. OR-75DCL polyurea deck coating product
Deck Coating / Topcoat
OR-75DCL

Aliphatic polyurea deck coating with excellent UV stability, chemical resistance, and abrasion resistance. Suitable as a topcoat on floor systems or standalone deck membrane for pedestrian and light vehicular traffic.

UV Stable 100% Solids
OR-E41 epoxy primer for concrete floors
Epoxy Primer
OR-E41 Epoxy Primer

Two-component epoxy primer designed for concrete substrates. Penetrates and seals the concrete surface, suppresses moisture vapor transmission, and provides the bond layer for polyurea and polyurethane topcoats.

Moisture Mitigating 2-Component
OR-ACR-42 acrylic coating product
Acrylic Topcoat
OR-ACR-42

High-build acrylic topcoat for commercial and light-industrial floors. Excellent color retention and UV resistance. Can be used as a stand-alone floor sealer or as the wear layer over a polyurea basecoat system.

Why Polyurea Outperforms Epoxy Alone

Epoxy primers are an important part of the system — but using epoxy as your topcoat leaves significant performance on the table. Here's why the best systems use polyurea where it matters most.

Property Polyurea Topcoat
Oak Ridge System
Epoxy Topcoat
Standard Epoxy
Cure Time to Light Traffic 2–4 hours 12–24+ hours
Temperature Tolerance -40°F to +200°F Limited in heat; brittle cold
Impact Resistance Excellent (flexible) Moderate (rigid, can chip)
UV Stability (topcoat) Excellent (aliphatic) Yellows under UV
Flexibility / Elongation High (absorbs substrate movement) Low (cracks at joints)
Chemical Resistance Excellent — broad spectrum Good (varies by formulation)
Moisture During Application Tolerant Sensitive — blushing, blistering
NSF 61 Availability Available on select products Limited

The best floor systems use both: epoxy as a concrete primer for maximum adhesion and moisture mitigation, and polyurea as the wear-layer topcoat for performance. Contact Oak Ridge to specify the right hybrid system for your project.
